Rick Murcer came to crime fiction the hard way: he started writing only after losing his job, a detour that, by his own account, taught him more about himself than he expected. His first short story, Herb's Home Run, ran in Writer's Journal before he attempted a novel at all; that novel, Caribbean Moon, followed in 2011.

He's a family man first, married for a stretch of time his wife is reportedly reluctant to specify, with two children and three grandchildren rounding out the picture. This guide runs all ten of his novels in order, from that 2011 debut through 2016's Cajun Fire.
