Ken Bruen holds a Ph.D. in metaphysics from Trinity College Dublin, and spent 25 years teaching in Africa, Japan, Southeast Asia, and South America before settling into the hardboiled crime fiction he's known for — the Jack Taylor and Inspector Brant series chief among them. He's originally from Galway, Ireland.

His debut novel, Shades of Grace, appeared in 1993. This guide covers seven Inspector Brant novels instead, from A White Arrest in 1998 through Ammunition in 2007 — globe-spanning experience compressed into lean, brutal prose.
