Kjell Eriksson published his first novel, Knappgoken, in Swedish in 1993, part of his long-running Ann Lindell series, but international readers came to know him through The Princess of Burundi, which won the Best Swedish Crime Novel Award from the Swedish Crime Writers' Academy. He's cited Maj Sjöwall, Per Wahlöö, and Henning Mankell as influences on his atmospheric, psychologically driven Nordic crime fiction.
