Kathryn Shay wrote her first story at fifteen — about a female newspaper reporter making her way in a man's world — but teaching claimed her first. She spent years in the classroom before selling a manuscript to Harlequin Superromance, then kept both careers running side by side until 2004, when she retired from the very school where she had started out. Her first published novel, The Father Factor, appeared in 1995.
This guide's three books cover a longer stretch than most, 1997 to 2008, from Just One Night to Be My Babies. Shay lives in upstate New York with her husband and two children, and her contemporary romances carry a teacher's habits in the best way: emotional depth, believable people, and careful attention to detail.
